Michael Conner Humphreys has a unique life. He played the "young" Forest Gump in the hit movie, and when he reached adulthood was sent off of to Iraq.
Humphreys served a year in Iraq and is now stationed at Ft. Riley, Kansas. Humphreys' enlistment ends June 4. But movie fans will remember Humphreys as young "Forrest Gump".
Humphreys joined the Army in 2005 and he's known affectionately at Fort Riley as "Gump." Humphreys also recalls the filming of "Gump" with much affection.
Humphreys said making "Forrest Gump" was a great experience and he fondly remembers Tom Hanks and Sally Field, who played his mother.
"Both of them were excellent people, just like you would expect them to be," he said.
