Nicollette Sheridan Exits Desperate Housewives

Last night's "Desperate Housewives" saw the exit of Nicollette Sheridan when her character, Edie, abruptly left, leaving Wisteria Lane after an argument with all four of the shows leading ladies. But is prime time's beloved neighborhood agitator gone for good?

"Yes, Edie's gone," show creator Marc Cherry told sources.

He quickly added: "She won't be back for a few years."

Earlier, it was announced that the television show would end in 2011.
Some think that the series could jump forward like "Lost," which would bring Edie back sooner rather than later.

"I only address one rumor at a time," Cherry replied.

With the two-hour season finale next Sunday, he won't say if Sheridan will remain part of the show she started four years ago.

"We'll have to wait until next season and see," Cherry teased.
