X-Files Sequel Finally Gets A Title - And Movie Trailer

Scully and Mulder's next exploit, at last has a name: The X-Files: I Want to Believe.

The movie is scheduled for release on July 25, 2008.

"It's a natural title," series creator Chris Carter told the Associated. "It's a story that involves the difficulties in mediating faith and science. I Want to Believe. It really does suggest Mulder's struggle with his faith."

While some believe the title is weak, others read into it that the movie won't have the extraterrestrials or "mythology" back story that cemented the hit television series, according to Carter, who directed I Want to Believe (see trailer below).

Fans of the television show will recognize "I want to believe" from a UFO poster in Mulder's office, but somebody could have come up with a stronger title for the first X-Files movie since the show went off the air six years ago.
