Eddie Murphy To Retire After Next Movie "Meet Dave"?

"Meet Dave" star Eddie Murphy has told "Extra" that he may leave the movie business for good after the release of his latest film.

"I have close to fifty movies and it's like, why am I in the movies?" he said, adding, "I've done that part now. I'll go back to the stage and do stand up comedy."

Murphy, 47, said that while a "Beverly Hills Cop 4" flick was in the works, he didn't want to do it, because "the movie wasn't ready to be done." Murphy said he agreed to do " Beverly Hills Cop 3" because of the large fee he was offered.

"They said this is how much we're going to pay you. I said, 'let's go shoot it! I don't care if the script ain't right."

As for Eddie's love life, the new bachelor told "Extra" he is currently looking for a woman with "just honesty and some other things." Murphy married Tracey Edmonds on January 1, and they split just 15 days later.

"Meet Dave" is scheduled for release on July 11 and tells the story of a crew of miniature aliens who operate a spaceship that has a human form. While trying to save their planet, the aliens encounter a new problem, as their ship becomes smitten with an Earth woman.

Eddie Murphy may be talking about retirement, but he has a list of projects a mile long to complete first.

In June 2009 Murphy will star in the comedy "Nowhereland" about a financial executive (Eddie Murphy) who can't stop his career from crashing down is invited into his daughter's imaginary world, where solutions to his problems await.

In April of 2009 he will star in the comedy "A Thousand Words" about a boring guy who learns that he has only 1,000 words left to speak before he will die.

Next he will re-team with Mike Myers, Cameron Diaz and Antonio Banderas for the animated family movie "Shrek Goes Fourth" sequel scheduled for a 2010 release.

And last but not least Murphy is due to star in the 2010 release of "The Incredible Shrinking Man", along with another untitled Romeo and Juliet project still in pre-production.

Does this sound like the schedule of a man ready to retire? We don't think so either.

Murphy and ex-wife sell California home

Comedian Eddie Murphy and his first wife, Nicole Mitchell Murphy, have sold their vacation home in Granite Bay, Calif., for $6.1 million.

The property with its 11,000-square-foot main house and nearby guest house had served as a vacation spot for the couple, who finalized their divorce in 2006, the Los Angeles Times said Saturday.

The home, near Folsom Lake, has 10 bedrooms, a video-game arcade, an infinity pool and a tennis court.

During their 12 years of marriage, the 46-year-old "Norbit" star and 40-year-old model had five children together.

She reportedly also has placed a second home up for sale in Calabasas, Calif., for nearly $10 million.

The Times said the property sales come on the heels of Eddie Murphy's separation from producer Tracey Edmonds two weeks after their New Year's Day wedding.
