Jack Black has dropped out of the Warner Bros. comedy "Man-Witch", which he was developing with director Todd Phillips and screenwriter Jay Reiss for the past year.
It's unclear why the comedian abandoned the project. Black was intending to take on the starring role of a schoolteacher who, after suddenly discovering he has witchlike abilities, joins a school of witches only to discover that his classmates are all girls.
Black will next be seen in the Ben Stiller directed action comedy "Tropic Thunder" due in August of 2008, where through a series of freak occurrences, a group of actors shooting a big-budget war movie are forced to become the soldiers they are portraying.
Big budget is right, as the ensemble cast includes many of Hollywood's big hitters such as Jack Black, Ben Stiller, Robert Downey Jr., Tom Cruise, Matthew McConaughey and Tobey Maguire,

Box Office Rundown - "Kung Fu Panda" Beats "Zohan" While "Sex" Slips..
Jack Black's Po the panda beat up Adam Sandler's hairdresser this weekend.
Black's animated comedy "Kung Fu Panda" with Angelina Jolie, pulled in $60 million in ticket sales to open as the weekend's No. 1 movie, while Adam Sandler's hair and sex salon adventure "You Don't Mess With the Zohan" opened in second place with $40 million, according to studio estimates late Sunday.
The two movies carried Hollywood to a big weekend finish, where the top 12 films took in $172 million; up 32 percent from the same weekend last year when "Ocean's Thirteen" led with a $36 million opening. The big draw to "Ocean's" was the George Clooney, Brad Pitt and Matt Damon combo.
DreamWorks "Kung Fu Panda" and Sony's "Zohan" topped last weekend's leader, the Warner Bros. film "Sex and the City" with Sarah Jessica Parker and Chris Noth, which dropped to fourth place with $21 million.
"Kung Fu Panda," distributed by Paramount for DreamWorks Animation, has Jack Black providing the voice of the tubby Po, a panda in ancient China who becomes an unlikely martial-arts hero. The voice cast includes Angelina Jolie, Dustin Hoffman, Lucy Liu and Jackie Chan.

"You Don't Mess With the Zohan" stars Adam Sandler as an Israeli commando who fakes his death so he can live out his dream to become a hair stylist in New York City.

"Kung Fu Panda" Early Review And Movie Trailer
If you're looking for risk-free fun at the movies next month, bet on "Kung Fu Panda", an optimistic animated adventure developed around the comedy talents and unrestrained personality of Jack Black.
It's the story about a lazy, irreverent slacker panda, named Po (Jack Black), who is the biggest fan of Kung Fu around...which doesn't exactly come in handy while working every day in his family's noodle shop.
Unexpectedly chosen to fulfill an ancient prophecy, Po's dreams become reality when he joins the world of Kung Fu and studies alongside his idols, the legendary Furious Five - Tigress (Angelina Jolie), Crane, Mantis, Viper (Lucy Liu) and Monkey (Jackie Chan) -- under the leadership of their guru, Master Shifu (Dustin Hoffman).
But before they know it, the revengeful and double-crossing snow leopard Tai Lung is headed their way, and it's up to Po to defend everyone from the oncoming threat. Can Po turn his dreams of becoming a Kung Fu master into reality? Po puts his heart - and his girth - into the task, and the unlikely hero ultimately finds that his greatest weaknesses turn out to be his greatest strengths.
A group of martial arts masters are going to need a black belt in patience if they are going to turn this slacker panda into a kung fu fighter before it's too late.

Stars Make Movies For MTV Movie Awards
MTV has signed up a ton of celebrities -- including Ben Stiller, Robert Downey Jr. and Jack Black -- to create their own short films, which will be shown during the annual MTV Movie Awards on Sunday.
Mike Myers, who will host the event at the Gibson Amphitheatre in Universal City, also created two short films with two new characters he created.
In addition, an Adam Sandler made promotion for the show is already airing. In it, he plays his character from his upcoming comedy "You Don't Mess With the Zohan." Sandler also is receiving a special award during the show, but the details are being kept top secret.
Ben Stiller hired his own writer and director to work on his short, which is a "very funny tribute to viral films," said Robin Reinhardt-Locke, senior studio suit and celebrity talent at MTV. The video also will air at MTV.com and other sites after Sunday.
The awards, now in their 17th year, unofficially double as a promotional tool for upcoming movies, including those released by MTV's corporate sister Paramount Pictures.
Stiller, Downey and Black co-star in Paramount's August 15 comedy "Tropic Thunder." Paramount is also releasing Myers' movie, "The Love Guru," on June 20. Sandler's movie, from Sony's Columbia, opens June 6.

Jack Black Opens In "Be Kind Rewind"……
Jack is back. Jack Black opens in his new movie, "Be Kind Rewind" on February 22nd. It looks like this could be a funny, easy to watch flick. Here is the Synopsis:
Jerry (Jack Black) is a junkyard worker who attempts to sabotage a power plant he suspects of causing his headaches. But he inadvertently causes his brain to become magnetized, leading to the unintentional destruction of all the movies in his friend's (Mos Def) store. In order to keep the store's one loyal customer, an elderly lady with a tenuous grasp on reality, the pair re-create a long line of films including The Lion King, Rush Hour, Ghostbusters, When We Were Kings, Back to the Future, Driving Miss Daisy, and Robocop , putting themselves and their townspeople into it.
They become the biggest stars in their neighborhood.
When customers ask why the movies look different than they remember, Jerry and Mike tell them that these are the Swedish import versions - and, eventually, "sweding" (pronounced SWEE-ding) becomes part of the neighborhood's vocabulary, the joke being that the customers prefer the "sweded" versions because they're only about 20 minutes long and easy to understand.
Okay, so it's not rocket science or an international spy thriller. But every now and then we just need to watch a movie like this - and laugh, just because it's funny…
