Ellen DeGeneres Planning Dream Gay Wedding With Portia de Rossi

Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi have set a wedding date, and to hear the talk show host tell it, the ceremony is going to be spectacular.

DeGeneres, who won her fourth consecutive Daytime Emmy for talk show host Friday night, told reporters backstage at the Kodak Theater that she and de Rossi are planning their "dream wedding."

"Yes, we have set a wedding date," said DeGeneres. "How do I feel about it? I obviously feel like it's long overdue. I think someday people will look back on this like women not having the right to vote and segregation and anything else that seems ridiculous that we don't all have the same rights."

While the day is on the calendar, DeGeneres didn't say when or where it would take place.

DeGeneres said she plans to fly the de Rossi family in from Australia and that "incredible people" would sing at the ceremony. She said she would show "a tiny bit" of the nuptials on her talk show - and joked that she would use her latest Daytime Emmy as a wedding-cake topper.

"Planning a wedding is very stressful," said DeGeneres. "It's crazy. My gardener is now invited."

DeGeneres and de Rossi are not the first to take advantage of the new California law that allows same sex marriages.

George Takai of 'Star Trek' In Line For Gay Marriage License…

"Star Trek" star George Takai is ready to "live long and prosper" with his gay partner of 21 years.

Takai will marry 54-year-old Brad Altman on September 14th in Los Angeles.

The 71-year-old actor, known for his role as Sulu on the "Star Trek" sci-fi television series, was the first to pay $70 for a marriage license in West Hollywood early Tuesday.

The marriage license is good for 90 days.

Takai was jubilant, saying "it's going to be the only day like this in our lives and it is the only day like this in the history of America."

He told reporters and a swelling crowd outside the West Hollywood city auditorium "may equality live long and prosper."

The California Supreme Court has legalized same-sex marriage.

It also appears that standing in the same line may soon be Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi. Ellen has indicated on her syndicated TV program that she now plans to marry her long time gay lover.

Also, Queen Latifa has announced her intentions to marry her best friend and trainer Jeannette Jenkins in a similar ceremony.

And if the line is not already too long it may grow as speculation that Lindsay Lohan and Sam Ronson may also tie the gay knot. But then again, you never really know with the Lohan clan.

Rosie O'Donnell Waiting to Re-Marry Kelli Carpenter

Ellen DeGeneres is doing it. So is 'Star Treks' George Takei. Lindsay Lohan and Samantha Robson probably should as well. But Rosie O'Donnell isn't all that excited about jumping into marriage again. Even though she can.

O'Donnell and her girlfriend, Kelli Carpenter, were, Kelli Carpenter married four years ago when the mayor of San Francisco allowed same-sex marriages. The California Supreme Court later declared such marriages invalid.

Now the state's Supreme Court has ruled that same sex marriages are no legal in the state of California, and many gay and lesbian couples, including DeGeneres and girlfriend Portia de Rossiare are planning to tie the knot - sometime.

O'Donnell told AP Radio that she and Carpenter are "going to wait until it's legal everywhere, because otherwise, I said to Kelli, we'll be going around touring the country on the marriage tour every state by state."

"Once it gets to be at the federal level, once every state recognizes the marriages of every other state, I think that'll be the time we would do it," the 46-year-old comedian said.

Asked if she thought that time was near, O'Donnell replied, "Yes."

Maybe Lindsay Lohan And Samantha Ronson are next?

Will Smith Talks To Ellen DeGeneres About Divorce

Since announcing her desire to marry her gay lover, Ellen DeGeneres clearly has marriage on her mind.

The talk show host - who plans to marry girlfriend Portia de Rossi and has talked marriage with several guests including John McCain and Jenna Bush Hager - was back to talk with Will Smith.

On Monday's episode of The Ellen DeGeneres Show, DeGeneres mentioned that Will and his wife, Jada Pinkett Smith, have been married for 10 years, unheard of in Hollywood. "It's like dog years when you're married here," she said. "That's like 50 years, right?

"What I found is divorce just can't be an option," the actor explained. "It's really that simple. And I think that's the problem with L.A. - there are so many options. So a huge part of the success for [Jada] and I is that we just removed the other options."

The secret to their success? "We're like listen, we're going to be together one way or the other so we might as well try to be happy," he said.

DeGeneres also suggested that Smith consider politics for his next project - and join Barack Obama as his running mate.

"I do think about running for office sometimes," Smith admitted. "Right up until that Monday after the movie opens and I have a 100-percent approval rating. No politician is ever going to have that!"

Ellen DeGeneres And Portia de Rossi Are Getting Married

Ellen DeGeneres is putting the California Supreme Court ruling in favor of gay marriage to the test - she and Portia de Rossi expect to get married, DeGeneres said during her talk show Friday.

DeGeneres was taping her "The Ellen DeGeneres Show", the same day the high court struck down the California law in opposition to gay marriage. Referring to the court's ruling, DeGeneres said she and girlfriend Portia de Rossi would soon be getting married.

De Rossi, 35, who was in the studio, and DeGeneres, 50, were applauded by audience members.

The court decision means gay partners could get married in as little as a month. However, religious and social conservatives are trying to put a constitutional amendment on the ballot in November that would reverse the Supreme Court ruling and ban gay marriage.

DeGeneres and the stunning de Rossi have been a recognized couple at Hollywood events, including the Academy Awards. Previously, DeGeneres had a high-profile relationship with actress Anne Heche.

In a 2005 discussion with Allure magazine, the comic said she hoped she and de Rossi would be "together the rest of our lives."
